1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 red bell pepper, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with juices)

1 cup fig jam (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup low-sodium beef or vegetable broth

2 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Olive oil, for sautéing

Fresh cilantro or parsley, for garnish

Brown the Meat: Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground beef or turkey.
