Ingredients

1 can (5 oz) solid white tuna in water, well-drained

2 tablespoons mayonnaise (adjust based on desired creaminess)

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)

1 small celery stalk, finely chopped

1 small red onion, finely chopped

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 slices whole-grain bread

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh lettuce leaves for garnish (optional)

Cherry tomatoes, halved, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.

Carefully fold in the chopped dill, finely chopped celery, and red onion. Taste the mixture and season with salt and pepper as desired. Adjust the amount of mayonnaise and mustard to suit your flavor preference.

Using a round cookie cutter or a sharp knife, cut the whole-grain bread into circles, aiming for a diameter of about 2-3 inches.

Place a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the bread circles, toasting each side for about 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown and appear crispy. Once toasted, remove them from the skillet and allow to cool slightly.

Once the bread circles have cooled, generously spoon the prepared tuna salad mixture onto each circle, spreading it evenly to cover the surface.

For a decorative touch, top each toast circle with a small leaf of fresh lettuce and a half cherry tomato, adding a burst of color and refreshing flavor.

Serve immediately as an enticing appetizer or a delightful party snack!
