Ingredients

10 chicken drumsticks

1/2 cup pure maple syrup

1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for an added kick)

Fresh parsley or sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the pure maple syrup, soy sauce (or tamari), Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using) until all ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture is smooth.

Marinate the Drumsticks: Transfer the chicken drumsticks into a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the prepared marinade over the drumsticks, ensuring that each piece is generously coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. For optimal flavor, marinate overnight.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). For easy cleanup, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper and place a wire rack on top of it.

Arrange the Drumsticks: Remove the marinated drumsticks from the refrigerator and take them out of the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off. Arrange the drumsticks in a single layer on the wire rack. Set aside the remaining marinade for basting later in the cooking process.

Bake the Drumsticks: Place the drumsticks in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes. Be sure to turn the drumsticks halfway through the cooking time. Every 10 minutes, baste the drumsticks with the reserved marinade to achieve a glossy finish and enhance the flavor.

Check for Doneness: To ensure the chicken is fully cooked, check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). If you desire a crispy, caramelized skin, turn on the broiler for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, watching closely to avoid burning.

Serve the Drumsticks: Once cooked, carefully remove the drumsticks from the oven and allow them to rest for a few minutes. Just before serving, garnish with freshly chopped parsley or sliced green onions.

Enjoy the Dish: Serve the sweet and savory maple-glazed chicken drumsticks warm alongside your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, fluffy rice, or a vibrant fresh salad.
