Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (such as oregano, thyme, or basil)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

2 teaspoons minced fresh garlic

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Extra Parmesan for sprinkling

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and granulated sugar, then sprinkle the yeast over the top. Allow it to sit undisturbed for about 5 to 10 minutes, or until the mixture becomes foamy, indicating that the yeast is active.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the activated yeast mixture, melted butter, and the egg. Using a wooden spoon or spatula, stir until a shaggy dough starts to form.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough with your hands for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticking too much to your hands or the surface, sprinkle in a little extra flour as needed.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, making sure to turn it over so that the top is also coated with oil. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm area for approximately 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix together the minced fresh garlic, 4 tablespoons of melted butter, and the grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.

Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a smooth ball.

Assemble the Pull-Aparts: Take each dough ball and dip it into the garlic butter mixture, coating it well. Arrange the coated balls closely in a greased round baking dish, stacking them as you go. Drizzle any remaining garlic butter over the top and sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.

Second Rise: Cover the baking dish with a towel again and let the balls rise for another 30 to 40 minutes, or until they have puffed up nicely.

Preheat the Oven: While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is hot and ready for baking.

Bake: Once the dough balls have risen, place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the bread is cooked through.

Garnish and Serve: After removing the bread from the oven, brush the top with any remaining garlic butter mixture and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for brightness. Allow the bread to cool slightly before serving.

Enjoy!: Tear apart the soft, gooey pieces of bread and enjoy the savory, cheesy, golden goodness of your garlic Parmesan pull-apart bread!
