Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine (or your favorite pasta)

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your heat preference)

1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: Fill a large pot with salted water and bring it to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta, making sure to reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water for later use. Set the drained pasta aside.

Sauté the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and allow it to melt. Season the shrimp with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Place the shrimp in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are pink and opaque. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. When the butter is melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until it becomes fragrant. Carefully pour in the chicken or vegetable broth, stirring well, and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Prepare the Cream Sauce: Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Gradually stir in the heavy cream, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken slightly. Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper as needed.

Combine Everything: Add the cooked fettuccine and sautéed shrimp back into the skillet. Toss gently to ensure that the pasta and shrimp are well-coated with the creamy sauce. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add the reserved pasta water, mixing until you reach the desired consistency.

Serve: Plate the creamy pasta and shrimp mixture onto serving dishes. Finish by garnishing with freshly chopped parsley and an additional sprinkle of Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy your delightful dish!
