Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko is recommended for extra crunch)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Sriracha Honey Sauce:

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (adjust according to your spice preference)

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon rice vinegar

1 garlic clove, minced

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon chopped green onions (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu:

    - Begin by draining the tofu thoroughly and then pressing it to eliminate excess moisture. You can do this by placing the tofu between two plates or using a tofu press for about 20 minutes. Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes, approximately 1 inch each.

      Coat the Tofu:

        - In a mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Toss the pressed tofu cubes in this mixture until they are evenly coated. Ensure to shake off any excess cornstarch to prevent clumping.

          Breadcrumb Coating:

            - On a flat plate or in a shallow dish, spread out the breadcrumbs. Take the cornstarch-coated tofu cubes and dredge them in the breadcrumbs, pressing them gently to make sure the breadcrumbs adhere well to the surface.

              Cook the Tofu:

                - Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully add the tofu bites in a single layer, taking care not to overcrowd the skillet. Fry the tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Once cooked, transfer the tofu bites to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

                  Make the Sriracha Honey Sauce:

                    - In a small saucepan over medium heat, mix together the honey, Sriracha sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Stir the mixture well and allow it to heat through for 2-3 minutes. Taste and adjust the balance of spice and sweetness by adding more Sriracha for heat or more honey for sweetness, as desired.

                      Glaze the Tofu:

                        - In a large mixing bowl, place the crispy tofu bites. Drizzle the Sriracha honey sauce over the tofu and gently toss to ensure each piece is coated evenly and generously.

                          Serve:

                            - Carefully transfer the glazed tofu bites to a serving platter. For an attractive finish, garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. These bites can be served warm as a delightful snack or appetizer; consider providing toothpicks for easy eating or presenting them on a bed of fresh leafy greens for added elegance.
