Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

½ cup olive oil (or cooking spray for a lighter version)

Optional: fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Optional: lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Green Beans:

Start by rinsing the green beans under cold water. Trim the ends off the beans and pat them dry thoroughly with a paper towel, ensuring they are free of any excess moisture.

      Set Up the Breading Station:

Create a breading assembly line with three separate bowls. In the first bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, pour in the beaten eggs. In the third bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well to evenly distribute the spices.

          Coat the Green Beans:

            - Take a green bean and dredge it in the flour. Make sure it’s fully coated, gently shaking off any excess flour.

              - Next, dip the floured green bean into the beaten eggs, letting any extra egg drip back into the bowl.

                - Finally, roll the green bean in the panko mixture, pressing lightly so the coating adheres well. Repeat this process for all green beans until they are thoroughly coated.

                  Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup a breeze.

                      Arrange the Green Bean Fries:

Place the coated green beans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle the beans generously with olive oil, or use cooking spray for a lighter option, to ensure they become wonderfully crisp during baking.

                          Bake:

Bake the green bean fries in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. Make sure to flip them halfway through the baking time for even crispness. They should come out of the oven golden brown and delightful.

                              Garnish and Serve:

Once baked, remove the green bean fries from the oven and, if desired, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for a vibrant touch. Serve them warm alongside lemon wedges to add a zesty squeeze.
