Ingredients

10 chicken drumsticks

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or more to suit your spice preference)

Salt and black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)

Wooden popsicle sticks or skewers

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: Start by rinsing the chicken drumsticks under cold water. Pat them dry completely with paper towels to ensure the marinade adheres well.

Create the Marinade: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the honey, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and a generous pinch of salt and black pepper. Whisk until all ingredients are perfectly blended and the mixture is smooth.

Marinate the Drumsticks: Transfer the chicken drumsticks into a large resealable plastic bag or a spacious bowl. Pour the marinade over the drumsticks, making sure every piece is well coated. Seal the bag tightly or cover the bowl with plastic wrap. For optimal flavor penetration, refrigerate for at least 1 hour; however, overnight marination is highly recommended.

Preheat the Oven: When ready to cook, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for effortless cleanup.

Prepare the Pops: After marinating, take each drumstick and carefully insert a wooden popsicle stick or skewer into the thick end, pushing it in gently to create your “pop.”

Bake the Drumsticks: Place the drumstick pops on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart to allow even cooking. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes. Be sure to flip the drumsticks halfway through to achieve an even golden brown color. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) when fully cooked.

Glaze for Extra Flavor (optional): For an additional burst of sweetness and a beautiful glaze, in the last 5 minutes of baking, brush the drumsticks with a little extra honey.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the drumsticks from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. If desired, garnish with freshly chopped cilantro or parsley. Serve while warm alongside your favorite dipping sauce or simply on their own for a tasty treat!
