Ingredients

8 cups of day-old brioche or challah bread, torn into bite-sized pieces

1 cup of pecans, roughly chopped

4 large eggs

2 cups of whole milk

1 cup of heavy cream

1 cup of packed brown sugar

1/2 cup of granulated sugar

1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted

1 cup of caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Generously grease a 9x13 inch baking dish using butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Prepare the Bread: In a large mixing bowl, add the torn bread pieces and chopped pecans. Gently toss them together until well combined, then set aside.

Mix the Custard: In a separate large bowl, whisk together the eggs until slightly frothy. Then add the whole milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and melted butter. Continue to whisk until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.

Combine Mixtures: Carefully pour the custard mixture over the bread and pecans in the first bowl. Using a spatula, press the bread down gently to ensure all pieces absorb the custard. Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure even soaking.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Once the bread has absorbed the custard, transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread it out evenly, then drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the top for added flavor.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes. The pudding is ready when the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: After baking, remove the bread pudding from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes to set. Serve warm, drizzled with the remaining caramel sauce to enhance the sweetness.

Enjoy: For an extra indulgent touch, feel free to top with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream before serving!
