Ingredients

2 cups fresh blueberries (or use frozen blueberries for convenience)

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (an approximate yield of 4-6 lemons)

1/2 cup granulated sugar (modify to your desired sweetness)

2 cups cold water

2 cups ice cubes (adjust based on your slush consistency preference)

Lemon slices and fresh blueberries for garnish (optional, but adds a nice touch)

Instructions

Prepare the Blueberries: If using fresh blueberries, rinse them thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt. If opting for frozen blueberries, simply measure them out as they can go straight into the blender.

Blend the Ingredients: In a high-speed blender, combine the prepared blueberries, freshly squeezed lemon juice, granulated sugar, and cold water. Blend everything together on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth, which usually takes about 30 to 60 seconds.

Strain the Mixture (Optional): If you prefer a silkier texture, take a fine mesh sieve and strain the blended mixture into a bowl or pitcher to eliminate any blueberry skins. However, if you enjoy a bit more texture and fiber, feel free to skip this step.

Add Ice: Return the strained or unstrained mixture back into the blender (if you strained it) and add the ice cubes. Blend the mixture again until it reaches a slushy consistency, ensuring the ice is finely crushed. Adjust the number of ice cubes to achieve your preferred thickness.

Taste and Adjust: Before serving, taste your slush to see if it meets your sweetness preference. If necessary, add a bit more granulated sugar or a drizzle of honey, and blend briefly just to mix.

Serve: Pour the refreshing slush into chilled glasses for an extra cool experience. If desired, garnish each serving with a lemon slice on the rim and a few fresh blueberries tossed in.

Enjoy: This delightful slush is best enjoyed immediately with a straw or a spoon. Perfect for cooling down on a warm day!
